Destin for Adventure Seekers
Heading to Destin and want some amazing adventures? Whether you are in for a thrill or have some adventurous members in your group, here are my local recommendations for the most thrilling adventures the Destin area has to offer.
#1 JetSurf: Have you ever surfed, or wake-boarded, or just really wanted to try a board sport but never got the chance? JetSurf Destin is the perfect opportunity to get your feet wet with a board sport and get an amazing one-on-one experience with a local JetSurf athlete. Dubbed the motorized surfboard, JetSurf allows riders to be in control of the speed of the board and learn to ride at their own pace.
Locals Tip: Great adventure for pre-teens to adults. Make sure to bring a GoPro or waterproof camera to get some epic footage of your thrill seeker learning some new skills!
#2 Parasailing: Want to see Destin from above and enjoy a beach day at the same time? Check out one of the many parasailing adventures in Destin such as Just Chute Me. Enjoy cruising out into the Gulf, then rising 400 feet into the sky where you can see the Destin coastline, spot marine life through the emerald-clear waters before splashing down into the cool water.
Locals Tip: This adventure feels a lot like an amusement park ride. If you are prone to motion sickness make sure to take necessary preparations before your adventure!
#3 HydroJet: What happens when you mix a Jet Ski with a speed boat? You get a HydroJet. Basically a speed boat with Jet Ski-like seats. The HydroJet zips around the Bay or the Gulf while riders hang onto the handlebars getting the most of the boat's speed and power. The HydroJet can reach up to 35 mph which will feel super fast on the water. Make sure to hold on to your hats for this one!
Locals Tip: Grab these tickets early because they are super affordable and will sell out quickly!
#4 KiteBoarding: Want to learn to harness the wind and use it's power to surf? You've got to try kiteboarding! XL Kites in Fort Walton Beach offers three-hour experiences to either learn the basics of kiteboarding, or hone your skills if you're already hooked on the hobby. If these giant kites don't thrill you, I don't know what will!
